Litigation Associate with 1 to 3 Years Experience (In-Person)

Mullen & Henzell L.L.P. is seeking a Litigation Associate to join our Civil Litigation group.

Attorneys with 1 to 3 years of experience are encouraged to apply. Our Civil Litigation group’s practice includes general civil litigation, business, real estate, contract, tort, insurance, and probate litigation. Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with a team of attorneys, paralegals, and other professionals to deliver comprehensive civil litigation solutions to clients.
  2. Draft and review various civil litigation documents, including pleadings, motions, and other related documents.
  3. Draft, propound, review, and respond to discovery requests. Experience reviewing and organizing voluminous document productions (including through use of e-discovery software) preferred.
  4. Assist with and/or appear at hearings, trials, and depositions.
  5. Conduct legal research on various issues, laws and regulations.
  6. Interface with clients to further objectives of litigation, address concerns, and offer strategic advice.
  7. Maintain client confidentiality and ensure adherence to ethical and professional standards.

Requirements:

  1. Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  2. Admitted to practice law in California and in good standing.
  3. One to three years of prior experience in general civil litigation preferred.
  4. Knowledge of California civil litigation laws and procedures.
  5. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  6. Detail-oriented and proficient in drafting accurate and comprehensive legal documents.
  7. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple client matters simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  8. Team player with strong interpersonal skills, able to collaborate effectively with colleagues and support staff.
  9. High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to client service.
  10. Commitment to ownership of work product, and meeting deadlines and case and client needs.
  11. Ability to meet billable hour expectations and work in-person at our downtown Santa Barbara office.

Compensation and Benefits: The compensation (base annual salary plus an incentive bonus plan) range for our 1 to 3 year associates is $135,000 to $220,000, depending on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Our full-time associates are also eligible for a comprehensive range of firm benefits. These include vacation and sick time, as well as medical and dental insurance. In addition, they can take advantage of Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts. Furthermore, life insurance and disability insurance are provided, along with access to a 401(k) plan and profit-sharing contributions.
